Little Hands to Heaven: Unit 2

Siri started Unit 2 of Little Hands to Heaven today. She is 3 years 4 months at this time. We are studying the letter B and the story of Noah building his big boat. She was a little less than enthused with the rhyme today, but she has her little moods like this every now and then. I am sure she will warm up to this idea tomorrow. I plan to find a cute craft to go along with the story of Noah this week. I guess I will be searching Pinterest tonight. :)

We use a variety of supplemental sheets with Little Hands to Heaven. My daughter has fairly good motor skills and likes to do worksheets like her older sister. I have a blogger friend by the name of Dawn who has some excellent printables. There is a button for her blog on my sidebar. It is Our Little Monkeys. She is a great mom and friend, and I am so happy to have found her through homeschooling!

Here is an example of one of the supplemental sheets we used today.
We used some others today as well, but this is one of the favorites in my house. I am having technical difficulties with my other pictures today too. I can upload more tomorrow though.

Here is the set of books we use with Little Hands to Heaven. I am considering something different from the ABC Bible Verses for our devotional though. I might even get crazy and switch out the Bible to the Jesus Storybook Bible. We love reading it! We'll see how the year goes!

Starting Little Hands to Heaven right now seems to be perfect timing for my little one. She is retaining the letter names and sounds and eating up the Bible stories. I'm sure we will have an excellent year and grow in so many ways!

Oops! Fell off the posting wagon again!

Hi everyone! It's so easy to forget to post when you are busy having so much fun with your family. We are doing wonderfully right now. Brina, my oldest just completed the Zz Zebra unit in MFW K. We are now doing units in about 3 days. We fell a bit behind so to make sure we finish in early May we are speeding up a bit. It works out perfectly though because her understanding in phonics has jumped dramatically and she is ready to move on to more challenging phonics instruction. We will soon begin All About Reading Level 1-as soon as it arrives.

We also just started doing Heart of Dakota's Little Hands to Heaven with Siriana. We completed unit 1 today. I will begin to take some pictures next week and blog about this experience. It seems to be the perfect skill level for her now. She is starting to retain the letters very well. The Bible stories are near and dear to my heart as well. I will make a more formal post on what we are using with this program tomorrow.

Hopefully, I can stay on the wagon with blogging again. It really helps keep me on point with prepping properly. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Reflecting on the Week

I thought I would post an update about how our week has gone. It's been an enjoyable week learning about creation and the letter "A" at our house. The girls are both doing really well. Brina of course understands the concepts more than her sister. Brina already knows her letters though. Siriana says that the letter name is "B" but she knows without a doubt that it says "A-A-Adam!" Lol! The cute little finger play for the first week is adorable. It goes through different animals that God created and tells that he created people. My girls both love it.

Another thing that both girls really enjoy is the music that goes along with the program. I hesitated to buy it at first, but they were dancing and singing away. I'm so glad I bought the CD set. It was definitely $13 well spent.

To learn about the letter "A" this week, we have made a big letter A on the floor with masking tape. The girls walked their stuffed animals/dolls along the letter. We have talked about words that begin with the letter A: apple, astronaut, ant...Since my girls love to paint, we also dot painted an apple picture yesterday. Pictures will be at the end of the post. To end off our evening last night, we blew bubbles, played with sidewalk chalk, and read about six bedtime stories. I love spending this quality time with my girls and thankful for the direction I have with Heart of Dakota's program.

This is Brina's apple.
This is Siri's apple.

Overall, we've had a great week. I wish I would have gotten some outdoor pictures. I will try to do that today though. Thanks to everyone that takes a look!
